What better time to hit some great happy hours, then when you’re on vacation. You don’t have a schedule. You’ve spent the day hiking or exploring the Arts and Crafts loop. Maybe you got roped into taking one of those Old Time Family Photos, and now you need to forget seeing your Aunt Judy wearing a corset…
YOU DESERVE A DRINK!
But finding out where the happy hours are can be a bit of a challenge.
So let us, your semi-local Gatlinburg guides, guide you in the right direction. We typically try to steer people off the strip, but for this blog we are going to make a few exceptions.
Also –we are not responsible for this information! Restaurants change management, they switch up their menu, things change. Just accept it. But right now, these are a few of our favorite spots to have a cocktail on the cheap.
Three Jimmy’s
1359 East Parkway, Gatlinburg
First off, the food at Three Jimmy’s is great. Those wings! Amazing! And if you want to have a good time hanging out with locals, this is your spot.
But this blog is about Happy Hour, so I digress.
If you’re a beer lover, Three Jimmy’s has a great deal. All their draft beers are BOGO during happy hour. And for a small bar, they have a pretty decent drafts list, consisting of some standards (Yuengling, Miller Light, Sam Adams) and some great crafts including several Yee Haw options.
They also have daily drink specials that are available anytime – which is great if you’re looking to do a little day drinking on your vacation. Last time we were at Three Jimmys, they had $6 Moscow Mules. They also had specials on Fosters, Jack and (insert your favorite mixer here) and a few other beverages. Yes please!
Call for hours. We think happy hour is a daily occurrence – but you’ll want to call to verify.
Also, for those of us who have to work while on vacations, Three Jimmy’s as great Wi-Fi. It’s the little things, right?
The Ship Pub
170 Glades Road, Gatlinburg
The Ship isn’t my favorite bar in Gatlinburg, but on the right day, it can be a really fun place. If you’re a beer lover, know that their draft list is HUGE and you will find a great variety of beers from all over the world. A typical day, they have 40 taps going, so you’ll find something you like. If it’s not happy hour, their flights of beer are very reasonable and a great way to discover some new favorites.
But during happy hour, drafts are $1 off. Easy. Every day except Mondays, when they are closed.
Oh – and their Cottage’s Pie is killer. It’s not on happy hour. I would just feel guilty if you went to The Ship and didn’t know that intel.
Smoky Mountain Brewery
1004 Parkway #501, Gatlinburg
This is our favorite place for drinks in Gatlinburg. And, they have their own PARKING LOT! What?! So there ya go. It is one of the few spots on the strip I can recommend with a clear conscience.
It’s a brewery and our crew has loved every beer we have sampled. So ditch the crappy beer you normally drink and get a taste of a great, local craft brew while you’re in Gatlinburg! Their happy hour is weekdays from 4-7pm with $2 off drinks.
They have a notable non-beer drink menu as well, where ALL DAY you can get variety of drinks including mojitos, margaritas and classics like Long Island Tea, Bloody Marys, Tom Collins and White Russians for only $6.
On Saturday and Sunday, from noon to 3pm, you can get a mimosa, screwdriver or bloody mary for $4.
Here’s the deal. The spicy bloody mary with the bbq spice rim is the best in Gatlinburg. Easily. So don’t miss that one.
They have a daily happy hour that changes dates and times. So check in when you check in to your cabin and get the full schedule of happy hour, music, trivia and more.
Cherokee Grill
1002 Parkway, Gatlinburg
Yeah, yeah, it’s on the strip. But Cherokee Grill is next to Smoky Mountain Brewery and share the parking lot (they validate with a $10 purchase)! Happy hour is each weekday from 4-7, with $2 off mixed drinks and beers from Smoky Mountain Brewery. Easy peasy.
Did I mention there is FREE PARKING?
Mellow Mushroom
903 Parkway #103, Gatlinburg
It’s all about $3! House wines, margaritas, beers…you get the idea!
Melting Pot
959 Parkway #2, Gatlinburg
We haven’t tried this one, but it is on the short list next time we have friends in town. Rumor has it that happy hour is Sunday to Thursday from 4-5, with $5 fondue per person. $5 wines, $3 drafts.
Chocolate and wine? SIGN ME UP!
Park Grill
1110 Parkway, Gatlinburg
The Park Grill is at the far end of the strip, so it’s a bit easier to find free or affordable parking. Their happy hour is weekdays from 4:30 to 7:00pm. And it’s good stuff – half price beer and wine – $2.50 off liquor drinks and a yummy bar menu. What’s not to love!
Bistro 109
109 Bruce Street, Sevierville
Yeah, yeah, Bistro 109 is not in Gatlinburg, but chances are, at some point you’re going to end up in Pigeon Forge or Sevierville. You’ll need to make a Walmart run, or you’ll want to check out The Mill or one of the big attractions in that area. It’s ok. We’ll forgive you.
And when you go to Sevierville, make Bistro 109 your place for happy hour. It’s downtown by the courthouse, so first, get your picture with the Dolly Parton Statue. Then walk over to Bistro 109.
Happy hour is Monday thru Friday from 3-6pm. And this place is hard to beat.
$3 house wine.
$2 beer
$5 cocktails (and their cocktails are dee-licious!)
They also have $5 appetizers, including spinach dip, hummus, calamari, spanakopita and more!
