The Evangelical Christian Press Association has had an incredible week, hosting three events in two days – PubU, The Art of Writing Conference and the Christy Awards. And I gotta say, we have a lot to celebrate!
First – at PubU the team announced the “Top Shelf” awards for design, and wow. Such good stuff! Here’s a graphic with all the winners. It’s just refreshing to know that there is still a market and a concern for beauty, simplicity, good paper and leather book covers!
Then, last night, we were honored last night to attend the 18th Annual Christy Awards Gala. SO fun. Music, stories and the 10 best books in the Christian Fiction genre.
When hearing about the awards, I was a bit tentative about attending.
My first thought: This really isn’t my crowd was my first thought.
My second thought: There are nine categories…just how many Christian fiction Amish romance books are there?
Turns out, there is a lot of talent in the Christian Fiction world. And none of the awards went to Amish stories of love, buggies, and bonnets.
And turns out, if this is the quality of products being released, I need to read more Christian Fiction.
Props to the Christy Awards team for putting on a fantastic event. They were able to provide an engaging host (Chris Fabry), a quick thought on how stories impact the reader by New York Times best-selling author Karen Kingsbury, and a fabulous mix of music, laughter, and story from Andrew Peterson
